Nura Lodge is an independent editorial guide to luxury hotels in Australia. We publish in-depth reviews of a small number of hotels, alongside practical information about the regions around them: when to go, what to do and how to make the most of a stay.

We're not a travel agency or an affiliate site. We don't sell travel, take bookings or reservations, accept payments or earn commission from the hotels we feature.

If you decide to stay at a hotel we write about, you deal directly with the hotel or a provider of your choice.

No paid placements.

Hotels can't pay to be featured, and we don't accept payment, free stays or other incentives in exchange for coverage or a favourable review.

No bookings or commissions.

We don't take bookings or earn referral fees, so there's no reason for us to favour one hotel over another.

Opinions, clearly labelled.

Our reviews are editorial opinions based on the criteria we publish. They aren't official star ratings, and others may reasonably see things differently.

How a review comes together.

Every review follows the same process, so the hotels in this guide can be compared fairly.

  1. Research

    We draw on each hotel's own published information, official tourism bodies such as Tourism Australia and the state tourism organisations, and other reputable public sources.

  2. Assess

    Each hotel is measured against the same five criteria: setting, rooms and suites, food and drink, service, and sustainability. See how we choose.

  3. Write

    We write plainly and originally about what we like, what's worth knowing and when to go, without copying hotel or booking-site descriptions.

  4. Keep current

    Every review shows the date it was last updated. Details can change, so we always suggest confirming anything important with the hotel.
